Kate Overview
Kate is KDE's advanced text editor for source code, markup, scripts, and large text files. KDE distributes stable Kate builds through app stores and Linux package systems, while its official CDN also publishes nightly standalone packages for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The direct files listed here are the Kate nightly 11770 packages published on cdn.kde.org on May 29, 2026. The Windows listing includes both an EXE installer and a portable 7z archive. macOS users can choose Apple Silicon or Intel DMG packages, and Linux users can download the x86_64 AppImage. Because these are nightly builds, use KDE's release notes and checksums before deploying them broadly. For managed environments, download the required package once, verify it against KDE's published SHA256 file where available, and distribute it through your normal endpoint-management or internal software-share workflow.
