VLC Media Player Overview
VLC Media Player is a free, open source multimedia player from VideoLAN for Windows, macOS, and Linux. This page links to the official VLC 3.0.23 installer packages and source archive so the setup files can be saved locally before installation. The Windows installers, universal macOS DMG, and Linux source archive come from VideoLAN's public download servers. VLC includes its own playback engine and codec support for common audio and video formats including MP4, MKV, AVI, MP3, FLAC, and streaming media. That makes the offline installer useful for media workstations, lab computers, and restricted networks where extra codec downloads are not practical. To install offline, download the correct VLC package for the target operating system, copy it to the computer or deployment share, and run the installer or build/install from the Linux source archive as required.
