What Brave Browser does

Brave Browser is a privacy-focused web browser for Windows, macOS, and Linux, developed by Brave Software. It is built on the Chromium open-source project, which means it uses the same Blink rendering engine as Chrome while diverging significantly in how it handles advertising, tracking, and data collection. Brave Shields is the browser's built-in content filtering layer. It blocks third-party ads, cross-site trackers, and certain types of browser fingerprinting by default, without requiring any additional extensions. Because unwanted scripts and ad assets are stopped before they load, pages often render with noticeably less network activity compared to unmodified Chromium. Because Brave is Chromium-based, it supports extensions from the Chrome Web Store, making it straightforward for users who already have a preferred set of Chrome extensions to carry them over. For situations requiring stronger anonymity, Brave offers a built-in private window that routes traffic through the Tor network, an option not available in most mainstream browsers without a separate add-on. Standard private windows are also available and behave like typical incognito modes. Brave Sync allows bookmarks, history, passwords, and open tabs to be shared across devices using an end-to-end encrypted passphrase rather than an account tied to an email address. The browser also includes an optional Brave Rewards system, which lets users opt into privacy-preserving ads and earn Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) in exchange. Participation is entirely voluntary and off by default. This page provides the full standalone offline installer for Brave Browser, sourced directly from Brave Software's official GitHub releases repository. The installer is suitable for deploying on machines without an active internet connection and for keeping an archived copy for future reinstallation. For safety, download only from the official publisher. The installer linked here comes from github.com, the verified official source used by Brave Software.
