DaVinci Resolve Overview
DaVinci Resolve is a Free video and streaming app for Windows, macOS, Linux from Blackmagic Design. Use the official download link below — it points to Blackmagic Design's own site, which always serves their current release. It's used on more Hollywood feature films and TV shows than any other software, yet the full version (not just the lite version) is available free for Windows, macOS, and Linux. DaVinci Resolve is organized around seven workflow pages: Media for ingest and organization, Cut for fast assembly editing, Edit for traditional NLE editing, Fusion for node-based VFX and motion graphics, Color for the industry-leading grading toolkit (including the famous tracker and ResolveFX), Fairlight for full DAW-grade audio post-production, and Deliver for encoding and distribution. Each page is a fully-featured application in its own right — the integration between them is what makes Resolve unique among NLEs. Once obtained, transfer the installer to any media (USB, SSD, internal share) and run on a compatible machine without further internet access. A paid version called DaVinci Resolve Studio ($295 one-time) adds hardware acceleration for more codecs, multi-user collaboration, neural-network ResolveFX, noise reduction, HDR grading, and other professional features. The free version is fully production-capable for most workflows including 4K editing, color grading up to 32-bit float, and unlimited tracks.
